In accessory for the sweltering heat and humidity, the summer is filled with outdoor activities and farmer's markets. Exactly what a combination! When you like diving right into a vat of ice cream and eating the right path out, consider a few of these healthy treats instead.

  • Any number of fresh fruit tarts can spice up a backyard barbecue. Showcase those fresh blackberries and blueberries having a buttery crust and a lemon filling.
  • Sorbet has all the yumminess of frozen treats but a smaller amount fat and much less calories; raspberry is one of my top picks.
  • Combine two treats in a single and make fruit kabobs drizzled with rich chocolates. Pineapple and strawberries work especially well.
  • There is something particular refreshing about citrus in the summertime. Consider using a lemon bar topped with chopped strawberries.
  • Watermelon is definitely a success throughout the summertime. Help make your own watermelon-kiwi fruit pops to chill out.
  • Any number of fruit smoothies can be produced wonderful that summer goodness. Bananas having a dollop of chocolate ice cream is terrific.
  • If you're from the south, you are no doubt acquainted with the perennial favorite – strawberry shortcake. I favor mine with angel food cake instead of pound cake to lighten.
