While recently cleaning up my scary large makeup collection, I realized that somehow I'd accumulated dozens of makeup brushes! It was absurd since I have only one face and only how to apply makeup daily! I haven't decided how to handle the 'overage' yet, but I have pared down which of them I keep within reach.
Now obviously this list is subjective; if you find contouring a daily activity, you'd obviously need the appropriate tools. But here is a quick rundown of the basic makeup brushes and tools that I would say you'll need inside your regular arsenal:
- Concealer brush – If you possess the need to apply concealer, most likely you need to put it on simply to an area or two. By using this tiny little brush will help make sure that you hit the 'hot spot' and not the entire area. Dab lightly to combine the concealer into your skin.
- Eyeshadow brush – How many of these you need just depends on how many eyeshadows you apply. I attempt very difficult not to make use of the same brush in more than one color so the individual colors don't get muddied around the brush itself.
- Brow and lash comb – Keep those brows tidy and those lashes separated with this particular dual purpose little tool.
- Lash curler – Always makes your vision look bigger and brighter when you curl your lashes before applying mascara. Should you curl them afterwards, you risk breaking them off which nobody wants!
- Tweezers
- Sponge – You can use this little gem to combine almost anything. I find it invaluable for foundation in addition to cream blushes.
One quick side note, make sure to wash your brushes weekly to ensure that they're from accumulating with makeup and oils from your skin.
