When selecting the skin care products, there are two basic schools of thought – to stay brand loyal or to combine. And everybody comes with their very own opinions.
The short answer is to make the right choices based on your skin type and requires. If the means being brand-loyal since the entire regimen works for the skin, then by all means achieve this. But if your skin likes a cleanser from one logo and a watch cream from the different brand, then pick the ones that actually work for you.
If you are testing a new skincare brand, integrate only one cool product at a time. If you change everything at the same time and experience a negative reaction, you will have no clue which one caused the reaction. But by strategically adding one at a time, you are able to better judge the way your skin reacts and behaves towards the new items.
Personally, I do think you are able to mix-and-match. Do be familiar with the ingredients in every product though. If you are using a glycolic facial peel accompanied by a retinol cream, it could become too much for your skin. Likewise, topical ascorbic acid will neutralize certain ingredients such as copper peptide. Whereby, you might not obtain the optimal results from either product.
This advice would also hold true for hair care, body care, and cosmetics. Strangely enough, the majority of us do not think twice about one body wash along with a different lotion. So the same can hold true for any of the products. When it comes to cosmetics specifically, I actually do suggest that at least your foundation and concealer range from same brand so that you end up with similar colors and undertones.
