While some brands master both, usually a cosmetics company concentrates on either makeup or skincare. What do you normally consider buying makeup from a skincare line? Here are a few types of skincare lines that have expanded into makeup products:
- DHC – A well-known and well-respected Japanese skincare company, their best-selling set begins with the quintessential dual-step cleansing method. But they also offer primers, powder foundation, mascara, eyeshadow, eyeliner, brow pencils, lip gloss, and lipstick. A few of the products do contain the same nourishing properties as their skincare line, but it seems that the majority of the goods are just there as filler.
- Juice Beauty – One of their best-selling and best-known products may be the Green Apple Peel (available too inside a sensitive version). I wasn't aware up to now that this organic skincare line also offered a full type of organic makeup including foundation, BB and CC creams, concealer, powder, eyeliners, mascara, blush, and even multiple lip formulas.
- Origins – Another skincare line that has extended into cosmetic makeup products, Origins offers foundations, concealers, blush, eye makeup, lip colors, two makeup brushes, along with a brush cleaner. For this particular line, most of the color cosmetics seem like just an 'add-on' except for probably the Hydrating Lip Balm which would be considered a treatment product with color.
Personally, it seems that some companies must stick to what they know best. I think it depends upon whether the makeup seems to be an extension of the skincare philosophies or just an added afterthought. Some products appear to be they may be an all natural extension from the skincare, like a tinted moisturizer or perhaps a tinted lip treatment.
