It's hard enough to obtain the right shade of foundation, but when you throw in all of the different available formulas, it may become downright impossible it seems. This is a quick guide about choosing the right formula for your needs as well as your preferences:
- Tinted moisturizer – Typically tinted moisturizer offers the sheerest coverage and it is the most forgiving shade-wise. It can be found in oil-free formulas as well as moisturizing so 't be delay if you have oilier skin.
- Liquid foundation – The conventional and also the one that most of us grew up with may be the liquid foundation. Many of them provide medium to heavy coverage based on your selection, but the options range widely.
- BB or CC cream – Most BB or CC creams have concerning the coverage level of a liquid foundation but sometimes become more forgiving regarding shade.
- Cream foundation – Usually present in sticks or compacts, cream foundation offers the heaviest coverage. Such as the old pancake makeup of the past, it may cover just about anything you are trying to cover.
- Mineral foundation – Often a loose powder, mineral foundation could be a good option to liquids or creams. It is not great for super-dry skin, but with the proper primer it may work.
Truth find out, choosing a formula is more about the amount of coverage that you're searching for versus skin type. Granted, some formulas be more effective suited to certain skin tones, but you will find almost any formula for almost any type of skin.
I usually prefer my formulas to include a minimum of SPF 15, but if you use sunscreen as part of your skincare instead of your makeup, you most likely wouldn't need to worry about this. I simply like the one-step of my makeup including my sunscreen.
