If you typically bring your lunch to work, then you are familiar with the grind of the identical daily turkey sandwich. One of the newest lunchbox trends is completely from Japan, the bento box. You do not have to stick with traditional bento foods (rice with fish and vegetables). You can think outside of that box too!

Personally, I love mine because I can pre-prepare all of them on Sunday afternoons also it aids in portion control at the same time. They will also be ideal for kids' lunches should you pack for many people.

The small containers are ideal for keeping all your ingredients separated until you are ready to build your meal. There are numerous brands of containers you can buy, too many to list out. Here are just a few ideas to get you thinking about how you can perk up your lunchbox:

  • Chef salad
  • Caprese salad
  • Pinwheel sandwich
  • Finger sandwiches
  • Tacos
  • Ploughman's lunch
  • Cheese and fruit plate
  • Mini pita pizzas
  • Any quantity of leftovers you already have

A handful of my personal favorite overall bento tips:

  • I prefer to keep silicon baking cups (like for muffins or cupcakes) around to ensure that I can keep things separated. I might not want my sandwich bread soaked in tomatoes all day long in order to insert them in the small cup and keep my bread dry.
  • I also learned to make the most delicious dressing after i was researching bento meals. You are able to alter the ratio to taste but my mix is generally three parts medium taco sauce and something part fat-free Ranch. I despise the taste of fat-free Ranch but the taco sauce masks it and also the Ranch make it nice a creamy without adding too may additional calories.
