While many of us may travel on a regular basis for work, some of us might be less experienced in what to pack and have a suitcase of normal proportions. In the end, there's a decent chance you'll have to take that suitcase to some meeting or perhaps a conference, which means you certainly do not want to take your largest steamer trunk for a three-day trip.
Here is really a quick listing of essential clothing regardless of what events the trip may include:
- To wear – Comfort may be the name of the game, but obviously yoga pants would be unsuitable for work travel. Depending on what you need to do when you turn up at your destination, I'd recommend quite a tunic and leggings with flats, loafers, or moccasins. Plus I usually travel with a scarf or pashmina. It activly works to combat the cold conditions on the plane and may also serve as a blanket or pillow.
- To pack – As after i dress at home, I favor to travel with clothing that can be mixed and matched. For a week long work trip, I would include black slacks, grey slacks, one jacket, one cardigan, and tops which will opt for the suggestions above items. I also travel with one set of flats (usually worn on the flight) and one set of wedges. Instead of packing my iron though, I favor to take clothing that's wrinkle-resistant to ensure that I do not need to wreck havoc on that on the road.
One additional tip — whether I'm traveling for work or for vacation, I really like my packing cubes. They do an incredible job of lowering the space that my clothing occupies and I can organize everything so that it's easy to find once I arrive.
